Brain-Based Learning in Action: What 2-4 Year Olds Are Learning at Blue Ribbon Results This Summer?

At Blue Ribbon Results Academy, summer is more than sunshine and splash days—it's a Perfect Childhood Adventure! Our summer session, based on Teaching Preschoolers with the Brain in Mind by our founder, Dr. Sheila Holas, is intentionally designed to help children ages 2 to 4 experience life to the fullest through joyful, brain-based learning.
Each week, our preschoolers are immersed in literature-rich themes using familiar nursery rhymes and beloved storybook characters to build foundational academic and social-emotional skills. From “Humpty Dumpty” to “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” these classics are brought to life through hands-on activities that spark curiosity and creativity.
Here’s what your child is exploring this summer:
🧠 Summer Brain-Based Academic Skills
Early Literacy: Phonics, phonemic awareness, and sight words
Concepts of Print: Understanding how books work—title, author, cover, and more
Math Readiness: Counting, basic addition/subtraction, and even early division concepts
Writing Skills: Strengthening fine motor skills for writing and drawing
Calendar Time: Days, dates, months, seasons, and weather patterns
🔬 Exploration & Discovery
Science: Observing the world through the five senses and testing simple hypotheses
Technology: Learning through age-appropriate tools and classroom devices
Social Studies: Building friendships, learning to share, and practicing kindness
💡 Life Skills & Character Building
Practicing self-regulation
Learning conflict resolution
